Alain Crepin

 

A multifaceted musician, Alain Crepin studied saxophone,cello, and piano in Dinant, before attending the RoyalBrussels Conservatory, where he was taught by FrançoisDaneels and where he studied the saxophone, chamber music,harmony, counterpoint, fugue,orchestration, and orchestralconducting.
From 1975 to 2019, at the RCB, he taught the saxophoneand founded and conducted the International SaxophoneEnsemble. He was also Professorof Orchestration and OrchestralConducting at the Conservatoryof Esch-sur-Alzette.
As a military bandmaster, hedirected the Royal Band of theBelgian Air Force for 21 years.
He was promoted to the rank ofMajor-Bandmaster in 2004 andmade Artistic Director of all thebands of the Belgian defenceforces until his retirement.
The catalogue of his compositionsis mostly made up of pieces forsaxophone or wind ensembles. Hehas recorded more than 60 CDs as a soloist, conductor, or musicdirector.
He was a founder member of the Dinant-based InternationalAdolphe Sax Association (IASA) in1994. He has been the Presidentof the jury for the Adolphe SaxInternational Competition inDinant since 2005. He has servedas a member ofnumerous otherjuries, national and international,and has given concerts andmasterclasses throughout theworld. He has also been a guestconductor and has accompaniedthe world’s greatest soloists atthe WorldSaxophone Congressesin Minneapolis (USA), Ljubljana(Slovenia), Strasbourg (France),and Zagreb (Croatia), as well as in Ciudad Real (Spain) and Brasilia(Brazil) and at the 1st AsianSaxophone Congress in Chia-Yi(Taiwan).
