Timothy McAllister is a graduateof the University of Michigan(where he was taught by DonaldSinta).
He is one of today’s outstandingsoloists and is a member of the renowned PRISM Quartet.Recognised as a virtuosoperformer of contemporarymusic, he has made more than40 recordings and has premieredover 150 works byeminentcomposers all over the world.Timothy McAllister has performedin more than 20 countries.
He had the honour of being thesecond saxophone soloist in the 120-year history of the BBCLondon Proms. He featured ontwo Grammy-winning recordingsof the music of John Adams and Gavin Bryars on Nonesuchand ECM and has also recordedon the AUR, Albany, BerlinPhilharmonic, Centaur, DeutscheGrammophon, Equilibrium, Innova,Naxos,Étiquettes New Focus,New Dynamic, Parme, Soundset,Stradivarius, Summit, and XAS/Naxos labels. His recordings ofthe Rush saxophone concerto byKenneth Fuchs,with the LondonSymphony Orchestra, and of CityNoir by John Adams, with theBerlin Philharmonic Orchestra,appeared on albums nominatedfor the 2019 GrammyAwards; the Fuchs album won the BestClassical Compendium award.
He has performed with, amongothers, the Milwaukee SymphonyOrchestra, the OrquestraSinfônica do Estado de São Paulo,the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra,the BBCSymphony Orchestra (atthe London Proms), the RoyalLiverpool Philharmonic, and theNew World Symphony.
He currently teaches thesaxophone at the University ofMichigan.
