Shyen Lee is a graduate of theNew England Conservatory(where he was taught by KennethRadnofsky) and of Bowling GreenState University (where he wastaught byJohn Sampen).
He is actively involved inpromoting the saxophone in Asia,where he has organised a numberof congresses, including the XVWorld Saxophone Congress inBangkok in2009 and the AsianSaxophone Congress in Taiwan in2016. He was an elected memberof the International SaxophoneCommittee, which organises theWorld SaxophoneCongresses,from 2009 to 2012, and waselected again to serve from 2018to 2021.
He has performed as a soloistwith a number of prestigiousorchestras, including orchestrasbased in Bordeaux, Kraków, Kiev,Ljubljana, Majorca, Minneapolis,Montreal,Paris, Beijing, andVienna.
A number of Thai and Chinesecomposers have dedicated worksto him, which are played regularlyin Asia.
He is currently professor ofsaxophone at the College ofMusic of Mahidol University inThailand.
