Sergey Kolesov is a graduate of the Gnesin Russian Academyof Music in Moscow (where he was taught by MargaritaShaposhnikova).
He has won prizes at manycompetitions, including theSelmer-Paris InternationalSaxophone Competition (1st Prize– Kiev – 2003), the ConcoursInternational Saxiana (Prix SpécialHenry Selmer – Paris – 2004), the 4th Adolphe Sax InternationalCompetition (1st Prize – Dinant – 2006), the Salieri-ZinettiInternational Chamber MusicCompetition (1st Prize – Verona –2010), and the European ChamberMusic Competition (1st Prize –Karlsruhe – 2011).
For more than 15 years now,Sergey Kolesov has beenperforming in concert andengaging in educational activitiesworldwide, including in Germany,Brazil, China, France, Italy, Japan, and Poland. He has beenthe driving force behind majorsaxophone promotion projects in Russia: the Voice of theSaxophone in the Modern WorldInternational Competition (GnesinRussian Academy of Music, in 2011) and the PushkinsaxInternational SaxophoneCompetition (Prokofiev MusicCollege, in 2014, 2015, and 2017).He is regularly invited to serve on prestigious juries for nationaland international saxophonecompetitions.
A member of the jury of theInternational Television Contestfor Young Musicians Nutcracker,he also regularly takes part in
the programmes of the Gift ofLife International charitablefoundation.
